U8 is the age group that takes part in the most football tournaments in Denmark. That's because the players are old enough to understand and enjoy competition, but are still mainly motivated by fun and ball contact. The 5v5 format provides a perfect mix of individual time on the ball and emerging team tactics – and tournament days are typically well organised with a great atmosphere and plenty of spectators from the families.

A good U8 tournament takes a little preparation. As a coach you should explain the tournament's format and rules to the players beforehand, and make sure everyone has the correct equipment.
